ST DAVIDS DAY BAKING

Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant

Happy St Davids Day everyone! We have had a lovely week making some fabby st Davids Day things. We made some Kitchen roll leaks, drew Dragons, bought Daffodils and made Bara brith... twice as it was SO yummy! This is a wonderful welsh cake and is totally new to us. we just came across it whilst we did a search for welsh food. It was so easy and i have never had a cake that is made with tea before. I am a Tea addict so this cake was clearly made for me!!

"C" weighed the dried fruit

We then added the tea bags to the hot water. we talked about having to be very careful as the water was VERY hot and we didn't want to spill it and get burnt.

Very careful stirring..... we needed strong tea! Then we added it to the dried fruit and left for 5 hours.

Mix the butter and brown sugar, then add an egg and mix again. Pour in the flour and add the fruit and tea! Mix Mix MIX!

Stop for a treat!

Grease the baking tin!

Add the mixture... look at that concentration!  Love it!

Cook for an hour and then EAT!!!!!

How did you spend your St Davids Day?
