It is a time to let go of the past and sew the seeds of our future. Time for making promises to ourselves.
Imbolc is a fire festival and we light candles while we make wishes for our families and friends.
Today I took the boys for a walk. The day could not have been better. Spring was a fingertip away, so close we could almost touch it. The sky was blue and the air crisp and fresh. I set the boys a mission. To see how many signs of new life they could find.
The most abundant was the Snowdrops, everywhere we walked, there they were, popping out of the grass, from under a hedgerow, in gardens.
We spent a lot of time climbing trees and the boys called out to the Earth "I command you to grow!"
I said it might be nicer to "ask it respectfully to grow!", so they started to add a please on the end!
We decided to make a Bridged cross or Bridged doll but it ended up being a cross made from nature! Our own take on things I guess.
We enjoyed a bit more Tree time and nature hunting before walking back home.
We found a flooded ditch which the boys just had to get in!
We stopped at the pub for some Hot chocolate on our way home!
After lunch we made Bees wax candles. This was the first time the boys had rolled candles and they seemed to really enjoy themselves.
Greetings and blessings to you all for Imbolc.
I hope the seeds that you sow now, come to fruition in the near future.
