Pippa's Childminding Service!

I thought I would include a little about my business her for all interested, as I have started to link this blog to my advertising. All pictures of children on this blog are of my own sons or of children in my care who's parents have given permission for them to be included. I respect the children's privacy and will refer to them by a letter and not their name.

I have been looking after children since completing my NNEB (level 3) Qualification in 1995. Since that time I have been a private Nanny, where I spent 5 wonderful years. I then had my first child and became a childminder, so I could stay home with my child and still do the job I loved so much! I now have  two lovely children and have never looked back.

I am based in Oxfordshire. I am OFSTED registered with an OUTSTANDING grade!  I am a member of a network and an Enabling Network Childminder, offering support and childcare to family's who have a child with a disability.
I attend regular training events to keep up to date in all changes of childcare and to keep my approach fresh.
I offer support to other Childminders and child care professionals through a Facebook page and this blog. I often become involved in supporting and inspiring others through PACEY. We have featured in some of their training videos and are often included in their members magazine. I have also shared craft ideas and articles in their magazine and on their forums.

The children in my care enjoy a FUN and Welcoming environment! I have a mixture of styles but have been inspired by Steiner and Montessori and many of my activities and toys reflect this. Lots of Natural learning and life skills. We follow the EYFS and each child in my setting has a daily diary and learning journal which is added to and filled out throughout their time here with me. I observe their learning, development and interests and use this information to plan appropriate and exciting activities and experiences for them.

I believe in lots of out door play, trips to the fields and woods, bug hunting, puddle splashing, conker collecting, gardening, den making........ you name it! We also attend a Forest school in the village that I helped to set up.

We also enjoy lots of open ended and child led play, which is the very best way for a child to learn. Lots of hands on learning experiences, junk modelling, small world play, music, climbing and exploring, cooking and some visits to local toddler groups. Although I do feel it is important to socialise in these groups I also feel it is important for children to be given time to develop their play and become totally immersed in what they are doing, so we limit our time in Toddler groups to allow time for this type of play!

We love animals and have a pet snake called Nagini, several fish (tropical) and a lovely Bearded Dragon called Toothless! We also look after the school Tortoises!
